December 4th 2008 a day I will never forget
December 4th 2008 a that is forever stained and burned in my mind
December 4th 2008 my phone rang in the early morning
December 4th 2008 I was told that my best friend was dead
With only 4 days left in his deployment
With only 4 days left til he was home
With only 4 days left til he would be back drinking a beer
With only 4 days left til he would be planning his drive to Denver, Colorado
It wasn't suppose to be like this
It wasn't suppose to happen to him
It wasn't suppose to be this hard
It wasn't suppose to end
He was a friend
He was a brother
He was a son
He was a father
In death his name will live on
In death his legacy will continue
In death his stories will be told
In death his memory will remain
I miss his motivation
I miss his words of wisdom
I miss his ability to live life
I miss his presence
Everyday I think about the times in Germany
Everyday I think about the times in Iraq
Everyday I think about it should of been me and not him
Everyday I think about WHY
Iraq, For the Oil?
Iraq, for the money?
Iraq, for the sense of adventure?
Iraq, for the protection of the country?
