I joined the Army to become a medic, work in a hospital and someday become a nurse. I was sent to Iraq in 2004 and spent all of 2004 as a combat medic, doing medical support for convoys in Iraq. I became a member of IVAW in 2005. In 2007 I was diagnosed with PTSD. I began writing and submitted work to Warrior Writers for publication in Remaking Sense. In July 2008 I attended the Warrior Writers Retreat at Martha's Vineyard. I found peace in the other veterans' company and support for my art and writing.
