Our workshops provide a safe space for veterans to tell their own stories, using prompts and discussion covering a variety of military issues and experiences. We collaborate with Combat Paper on art and paper-making workshops.
Warrior Writers sponsors readings and performances to showcase veteran writing. Our members recently read at the internationally recognized Dodge Poetry Festival.
Our art exhibitions in Chicago, Boston, the DC area, Philadelphia, New York City, Martha’s Vineyard, Baltimore, and other cities give veteran artists the chance to showcase their work to the public.
Warrior Writers week-long retreats are free for veterans and include the opportunity to write, make art, participate in Master Classes, work with wellness professionals, connect with other veterans, writers, and artists and to share work with the public.
Warrior Writers hosts gatherings to create a community for veterans and their supporters to engage in the healing and the re-integration process together. VCCs feature writing and art-making workshops, trainings in working with vets, and healing sessions.
Warrior Writers collaborated with the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program to create Communion Between a Rock and a Hard Place, two murals reflecting parallel worlds: Baghdad and Philadelphia.
